Show+Tell is an online interactive event showcasing the most promising innovations in early childhood. In this installment, Show+Tell 3, we take a look at the role of social & emotional development (SED) in transforming wellbeing.
For this event, we broadly define social and emotional development (SED) as the: emotional, social, and cognitive skills children rely on to create strong, positive bonds with others and ultimately thrive in the world around them.
Across every definition, the science tells us that SED in early childhood is anchored in healthy relationships with the adults in their lives. A child's wellbeing is most fully nurtured when the adults in her environment--parents, teachers, social workers, relatives, doctors--have their social emotional wellbeing nurtured as well.
In this Show+Tell, we highlight innovations and programs that emphasize these three domains: Adult SED, Child SED, and Relational Health -- all of which work together and reinforce each other to create better outcomes for young children.
